Photograph of two unidentified men in the act of demonstrating how the outer husk was removed from the rice grain using a mortar and pestle. A woman and man look on. A version of this photograph (1978.78.122) can also be found in the Laura Bragg Photograph Album.

The image was taken at the Santee Gun Club (formerly Blake's Plantation) during the 18th annual meeting of the American Association of Museums held in Charleston. The conference coincided with the 150th Anniversary of the founding of The Charleston Museum and then Director, Laura Bragg arranged for tours of various sights and plantations around the Lowcountry.
