Description:
Photograph of the Biggin Church ruins in Berkeley County near Moncks Corner. The original church, constructed c. 1711 or 1712, was destroyed by a forest fire in 1755. Rebuilt in 1761, it suffered damage during the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and another forest fire in 1886. Abandoned, many people used the site to scavenge bricks until the graveyard began to be used again in the twentieth century. The southern and western walls are all that remain today.
