Description:

Photograph of a view through Bedon's Alley looking north toward Elliott Street. Most of the small buildings on the east side of the street (right) were originally built as outbuildings for the large houses and establishments East Bay Street (Rainbow Row). Paine shot this as a test image and captured one man conversing with three other men seated on crates in front of a building. A fifth man can be seen in the distance sitting on a step. Notation on reverse reads, "P.M.C. 11 contrast."
