Ashley Hall Plantation

Description:

Sepia photograph of a structure identified as the kitchen house on Ashley Hall Plantation. Handwritten on reverse reads, "A a relic of former days. Kitchen on plantation formally (sic) owned by Gov. Bull." This is thought to be the original tabby-walled house on Ashley Hall Plantation. If so, this would be one of the oldest standing structures in South Carolina. A second story was added in the 1900s (see National Register nomination form), but the exact date is not specified. It would have been used as an outbuilding after the second house was built.
