Asheville Trip, Charlotta and Nipper

Copyright: Contact The Charleston Museum Archives for publication quality images and credit instructions.

Description:

Photograph of Charlotta Drayton with her dog "Nipper" (possibly an American Staffordshire Terrier) and a small boy during a rest stop at Chestnut Springs, South Carolina. Paine captioned the image, "Nipper Drayton & Miss Charlie and a boy." He also identified the location, "Chestnut Spring S.C. & N.C. Line, Greenville to Asheville N.C., 7/5/17."

A small group, including Paine and Drayton, took this trip in an Oldsmobile Model 54 following the Old US 25 Highway from Charleston to Asheville, N.C. They refilled the radiators with water from the springs (see MK 14772).
