Ambrotype of baby Andrew Douglass surrounded by an elaborate gold metal border mounted in a shallow box covered with stamped leather. Interior lining is red. The photographer's mark on reverse, "Thomas Fury Photographer 392 Bowery New York" and another mark emobssed on the interior velvet, "J.H. Young 145 8th Ave Near 17th St. New York."

A handwritten notation on a loose paper in case misidentifies the child, "I think this is Maria, all dead but me and may the Lord have mercy on their souls."
