Alca torda, Auk egg

Description:

A razorbill (Alca torda torda) egg collected from Grimsey in Northern Iceland. It was originally collected by W. F. Palsson in June 1948 who noted incubation had started. Palsson also noted it "was placed on a ledge of a sea cliff. There was no lining under the egg." Identification was made due to the parent being observed roosting. Later acquired by Ernest Cutts.

Original set mark: 54/2, Palsson Collection
