Paleontology

The Charleston Museum's Invertebrate Paleontology Collection consists of over 12,500 invertebrate specimens with a focus on the marine fauna of the Lowcountry. Most of the specimens are from shelled organisms, such as clams and oysters, however some trace fossils such as burrows and trackways are also present. The collection contains many specimens collected by noted naturalists including Francis Holmes and Dr. Daniel Strobel Martin.
