Description:

Sepia toned photograph of the 30th Infantry Division (Old Hickory) disembarking from the USS Mercury at the Charleston Port Terminal. The image was shot from a high elavation looking down to capture the soldiers as they walk down the gangplank. They would then be loaded onto trains and sent to Camp Jackson in Columbia for demobilization. Handwritten on reverse reads, "Troops of the 30th [dis]embarking from the Mercury at Charleston Port Terminal March 1919".
