Black and white photograph copy of Lieutenant Colonel George Marshall addressing the officers of the 1st Division at Chaumont, France. Lt. Col. George Marshall served as director of training and planning for the 1st Infantry Division. In this role he was able to plan the first American attack on the German army at Cantigny (May 28-31, 1918) which resulted in a victory. Handwriting on the bottom reads, "Lt. Col. Marshall, 1st Div. addressing officers of 1st Div. on liaison between airplane and infantry - Chaumont. April 16, 1918".
