Description:

Black and white photograph showing a three-toed sloth on the ground. Presumably, this would have been one of the thirty-one "mammals" Beebe listed as being sent to the Zoological Park in New York. Howes simply noted on reverse, "Sloth."

Taylor wrote to her sister Nell, on April 26th, "We also have a sloth which crawls & climbs all over creation. Its fur looks like a very coarse grey & white fur, in fact it's as soft as can be."
