The Charleston Story: History and Science Educator Institute


This event is free for Charleston County Teachers!!

 

Teachers will use the rich and diverse collections of the Charleston Museum to learn about daily life at various points in time. Artifacts and specimens from our Natural History, Textile, History, and Archaeology collections, as well as Archives, will be on view for teachers to analyze and draw conclusions. Museum staff will work with teachers to incorporate material culture into their classrooms.

Go behind the scenes with curators to examine collection items

Walk in the steps of Christopher Gadsden and George Washington on an adventure through the old walled city

Examine primary sources from our Archives Department

Explore the Charleston Museum’s 580-acre wildlife sanctuary.

Learn to bring history to life by using artifacts and documents in the classroom

Learn to cast fossils, classify animals, and plant a rice crop.

Participants will receive 32 recertification points

Each day will be 7 hours of programming and a break for lunch. Fee: $200.00 PAID by CCSD Office of Curriculum and Instruction (includes lunch). Register through PALMS #55966 or call the district office – 937-6476.
