Museum Masquerade: A Haute Couture After-Hours Reception

Museum Masquerade: A Haute Couture After-Hours Reception

The phrase haute couture was first coined in the early 1900’s, but women across generations have used fashion as a way of expression and status. Enjoy an evening with The Charleston Museum’s Curator of Historic Textiles, Teresa Teixeira, to view some of the most elaborate and haute-couture pieces dating back to 1870 – each decadent and rich with exquisite fabrics, embroidery, and embellishments. The rarely-exhibited garments will be on display only for this event; they will not be exhibited again until 2022.

Just in time for your next masquerade, become inspired by the timeless fashion of The House of Worth and Fortuny while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. Purchase tickets online or by phone at 843.722.2996 ex 235.
