The Charleston Museum is thrilled to partner with The Gibbes Museum of Art for the second consecutive year on their Art Charleston Festival. The current exhibition “The Art of Abstraction: Modernism in Quilting,” pairs quilts from the Museum’s collection with paintings from the Gibbes to the enrichment of both. Together, Curator of Historic Textiles Virginia Theerman and Director of Curatorial Affairs for the Gibbes Museum of Art Sara Arnold, will be in conversation for a special Closer Look tour of the exhibit, allowing visitors to examine the works with new perspectives. This tour is free for members of the Charleston Museum, free for members of the Gibbes Museum of Art, or free with admission to the Charleston Museum.
