Learn to make a sweetgrass basket, an iconic art form of the South Carolina Lowcountry, with the Charleston Museum and traditional basket maker Sarah Edwards-Hammond. Soak up the history of sweetgrass baskets, see historic sweetgrass and other similar coiled baskets from the Museum’s collection, and then get started sewing your own creation. This workshop for adults includes all supplies and requires no experience.
NOTE: Our sweetgrass basket workshops sell out quickly, often several
months in advance. We recommend early registration. UPDATE: As of 5/7/13, we have two spaces left in this session.
