The Charleston Museum’s Uniform Collection consists of a variety of uniforms and accoutrements including Military, Militia, School, Diplomatic, and Civil Protection dating from the 18th century to the 20th century. The Military uniforms were worn by members of all branches of service from the Revolutionary War to the Iraq conflict and the Militia uniforms are from various South Carolina groups, both before and after the Civil War. The School uniforms represent local institutions and include the Citadel and Porter Military Academy while the Diplomatic uniforms were worn by individuals that served in a non-military capacity for the state or national government.
