Description:
Photograph of a group of women on either of side of a singular man pose for the photographer in front of a customized motor coach for the "Rio Vista On the Halifax The Classic Florida City." These motor coaches were designed to take prospective investors around the planned resort community of Rio Vista along the Halifax River. Started in 1925-1926 by Ohio developer, Walter Collins Hardesty and his wife Anna, the development contained over 3,000 lots, 38 homes, a grand hotel, a golf course, and several miles of paved roads by 1927. However, a major hurricane that occurred in 1928 and the Great Depression kept people from buying homes in Florida and it failed. See also 2016.2.42.
Please contact the Museum Archives for information on the woman's identity.
