Description:

Photograph of The Powder Magazine prior to its purchase by the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. Paine set his camera up at an elevated height, likely in the Champion Cotton Press building across the street at 20-34 Cumberland, to capture the image.
A sign identifying the sight as "Old Revolutionary Magazine" is visible on a wooden fence and the numeral address of "23" can be seen on the door leading to the Daggett residence behind the magazine (now 81 Cumberland). Two girls and a woman (presumably Eva A. Daggett) are in the yard. Note the chimneys to the OG Marjenhoff Bakery located at 147-151 Church Street to the left and St. Philip's Church graveyard in the far background.
Printed from a glass plate negative held in the Museum's Archives collection.
