Straw Hat

Contact The Charleston Museum for image use and credit instructions.

Natural straw hat made by Gabrielle Gillies of Awendaw, South Carolina. It was created with a loosely braided cording into a rounded crown and upturned brim. Strands of the straw, wind around the crown and are tied into a bow at the back. A cream felt piece in the interior crown rests against the forehead for comfort and sweat absorption.

Worn and donated by Ruth Test.
