Description:
Storage jar created by enslaved potter, David Drake (Dave the Potter), currently on exhibit in the Museum's First Hall. Dave designed it with a handle on each side near the rolled rim, finished in a two-toned olive-brown alkaline glaze. The date of "March 17, 1831" is inscribed near the rim surrounded by two concentric rows of hatchmarks.
