Description:

Ovoid-shaped storage jar created by two enslaved potters, Dave Drake (Dave the Potter) and Baddler. It is designed with four ear lugs evenly spaced below a full rolled rim with a mottled brown and olive-brown glaze. The inscription of "Made at Stoney bluff, for making dis ole gin enuff" found on the top portion of one side, refers to Lewis Miles' Stoney Bluff Plantation and indicates how the storage jar was used. Currently on display in the Museum's First Hall.
