Page 7 - Santee Gun Club, Flailing Rice

Photograph of three girls demonstrating the process of separating rice grains from their husks by threshing with flails. The image was taken at the Santee Gun Club (formerly Blake's Plantation) during the 18th annual meeting of the American Association of Museums held in Charleston.

The conference coincided with the 150th Anniversary of the founding of The Charleston Museum and then Director, Laura Bragg arranged for tours of various sights and plantations around the Lowcountry.
