Page 29 - Fireproof Building (South Carolina Historical Society)

Description:

Photograph of the Fireproof Building when it was the County Records Building (100 Meeting Street) taken during the meeting of the American Association of Museums in Charleston. Frary captured the image from a postion in Washington Square Park with the statue of William Pitt visible to the left and the steps to the Washington Light Infantry memorial seen to the right. The simple notation on reverse reads, "'Fire Proof' Building."

The meeting coincided with the 150th Anniversary of the founding of The Charleston Museum. Then Director, Laura Bragg arranged for tours of various sights and plantations around the Lowcountry for the AAM members and their spouses.
