Page 23 - Harrietta Plantation

Description:

Photograph of the owner of Harrietta Plantation, David Doar, taken during the 18th annual meeting of the American Assoication of Museums. He poses for the photographer on the bottom steps leading up to the front porch. Doar inherited the plantation from his father in 1872 and cultivated rice there until 1903. The Doar family sold it after his death in 1928. Frary wrote on reverse, "David Doar at Harrietta."

The meeting coincided with the 150th Anniversary of the founding of The Charleston Museum. Then Director, Laura Bragg arranged for tours of various sights and plantations around the Lowcountry for the AAM members and their spouses.
