Description:

Photograph of two men identified on reverse as "Whiting and Putnam." Frederic Allen Whiting was then director of the Cleveland Museum of Art and the "Putnam" could possibly be George Herbert Putnam who was serving as the eighth Librarian of Congress. More research is needed.

The image was taken during the 18th annual meeting of the American Association of Museums which coincided with the 150th Anniversary of the founding of The Charleston Museum. Then Director, Laura Bragg arranged for tours of various sights and plantations around the Lowcountry for the AAM members and their spouses.
