Burton is leaning on a slab of sandstone located in the area of the house built by Daniel Heyward in Jasper County, South Carolina. This photo was taken by Roy Attaway for a an article in the "Charleston News and Courier" that covered the archaeology dig at Old House Plantation. The article ran on December 5 of 1965.

The image was part of the Estate of E. Milby Burton donated in 1990.
