Description:

Black and white photograph of Adger's North Wharf (now North Adger's Wharf) in the morning. The photographer captured the image from the water to show the numerous street vendors (or hucksters) waiting for crops loading food wares onto their horse-drawn wagons. Most of the wagons are outfitted with shade umbrellas. Handwritten notation on reverse, "Adger's Wharf, Early morning."

Cotton exporters, Henry W. Frost & Co. and Matthiessen Gourdin & Co., as well as cotton factor E.H. Frost & Co., are all listed in the 1910 City Directory on Adger's North Wharf. They conducted their business from the warehouse in the background, now 2-16 North Adgers Wharf.
