Description:
Photograph of the outbuilding and yard at the Joseph Manigault House. Handwritten notation on reverse, "Gatehouse showing fence prior to brick-wall." This classical garden house, or folly, referred to as a "summer house" by the Manigault family, was an open outbuilding used by them as a place to enjoy the garden under shade. Early Museum staff nicknamed the building the "Gate Temple." Warlick took this image looking down from the Chico Apartments on 349 Meeting Street where he and his wife, Carolyn, lived in apartment 201-A.
