Description:

One pressed specimen of red algae collected from Charleston Harbor. Named for Lewis R. Gibbes by friend William H. Harvey.
Gibbes noted, "This specimen is well in fruit, the red spots visible to the naked eye are the flavellae" and "Section of frond showing immersed nuclei of spores."
