Gavia immer, Loon egg
Description:
One of two common loon (Gavia immer) eggs collected from Patton's pond in Bucksport, Maine (see CBE7062-CBE7063). Collector L.G. Leach noted the eggs were collected shortly after they were laid and the nest was "placed on muddy shore and made of sticks lined with cedar strippings." Later acquired by Arthur Trezevant Wayne.
