Description:

Photograph of the Gabriel Manigault House before it was demolished to make way for an Esso Service Station. Chamberlain set his camera up at an angle on Meeting Street which allowed him to photograph a large portion of the front of the house along with the abutting two-story kitchen house and slave quarters running down George Street. The residence of Dr. A.C. Wildhagen (286 Meeting) can be glimpsed at the far right separated by the long garden wall just visible in the lower right corner.
