Description:

Black and white photograph from the Harriette Kershaw Leiding Collection looking south on the west side of East Bay between Tradd and Elliott Streets. Various pedestrians and horse-drawn carriages are visible in the background and a horseless carriage is parked in front of the Steiber Printing Co. located at 93 East Bay. Two young children can be seen peering out of the doorway to the right at 95 East Bay where a sign hangs advertising "Ben Wilson Fresh Peanuts". To the left of Steiber's a sign is visible advertising for W.H. Pieper at 91 East Bay. The 1921 Charleston City Directory lists Benjamin and Lizzie Wilson as operating a restaurant and residing at 95 East Bay and William H. and Albertine Pieper as owning a "gasoline engines" business at 91 East Bay and residing at 26 St. Philip Street.
