Description:

Black and white photograph of a dugout canoe found in the Edisto River near Givhans State Park by John B. Parks of Summerville. Museum director, E. Milby Burton identified it as an "early type plantation dugout" made of cypress, and measured it at 14 feet, 7 inches long with a 20 inch beam. According to the "News & Courier" Mr. Parks planned "to take the canoe to Summerville for display."
