Description:

Black and white photograph of the Charleston Seagulls baseball team wearing pinstriped uniforms with the letters "S.A.L.S" on the chest. Wooden bleachers are visible in the background with two young boys seated to the left. This is more than likely the Charleston Seagulls (or Sea Gulls) with the initials of S.A.L.S. standing for - South Atlantic League Seagulls.

Charleston's minor league baseball team was called the Seagulls in 1886 and 1888 with the spelling change to the Sea Gulls only for the year of 1892. In 1894 the team name changed back to the Seagulls remaining that way for the years of 1898, 1904-1909, 1911, and 1913-1917. They then became the Gulls.
