One of five western grebe eggs (see CBE8835 - CBE8839). Cass noted that the incubation had "commenced" and that the nest was "a mass of decayed vegetation floating in 4.5 ft of water." Addtionally, there were "about 500 nest[s] in colony. Nearby a large colony of American eared grebe."
