The Charleston Museum's Vertebrate Paleontology Collection consists of over 10,000 specimens primarily from the Cenozoic Era and includes the largest collection of Oligocene whales in the world, phocid seals, sea turtles, Pleistocene megafauna, as well as the largest flying bird ever described, Pelagornis sandersi.
