Description:

Black and white photograph showing a man, identified as Sam, perched high in a tree where the nesting hole of a pair of green aracari toucans had been discovered. Taylor noted on reverse, "Sam in Toucan tree 1st nest discovered by Hartley."

Beebe published this image (Fig. 49) in "Tropical Wild Life in British Guiana: Zoological Contributions From the Tropical Research Station of the New York Zoological Society" with the caption, "Sam, Our Negro Climber, Sixty Feet Up Toward the First Limb of the Green Aracari Tree."
