Skeletons in the Closet: Teacher Training

Join The Charleston Museum in exploring skeletons and other body systems and learning how changes
in body structures can teach us about organism relationships and adaptations. Attendees will be
guided through the Museum and participate in interactive programs utilizing our vast collection of
mounted animal skeletons and fossils. Teachers will learn how to utilize the Museum as a resource for
their lessons as well as be taught strategies for teaching about body systems and classification in the
classroom using household items.

• Go behind the scenes with curators to examine collection items
• Make plaster cast of teeth and bones
• Use dicot keys to identify specimens
• Body System stations
• Participants will receive 6 recertification points
