Scents of Charleston Candle Workshop and Tour
Join local artist Daisy McClellan and Chief of Education Elise Reagan for a multisensory journey at the Heyward Washington House.
Immerse yourself in 18th-century Charleston as you explore the art of candle making. Artist Daisy McClellan will guide you through the history and process of creating candles, from start to finish. You’ll use a vintage vessel sourced by the artist to craft an eco-friendly candle, blending your own unique scents with a selection of fragrance oils and dried flowers. Experience the past through scents like tobacco, smoke, florals, and wines and spirits.
While your candle sets and dries, enjoy an exclusive, guided tour of the Heyward Washington House with Chief of Education Elise Reagan. Discover the daily life of residents at 87 Church Street and the aromatic landscape of 18th-century Charleston.
Please note: Candles will need at least 20 minutes to dry. The workshop will start with guided candle making, followed by a private tour while your candles set.
