Join local artist Daisy McClellan on March 9th from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm to learn the art of punch needle. Taking inspiration from The Art of Abstraction: Modernism in Quilting in the Historic Textiles Gallery, students will receive access to the exhibit prior to making their creations. You’ll take all that inspiration and create an abstract punch needle design to turn into the perfect throw pillow for your couch or bed.

Daisy will teach you everything you need to know about this traditional rug making technique while giving it a modern and playful twist. Participants will learn about the best supplies to get started, how to thread a punch needle, stretch a frame, draw your own design to fabric, how to punch, as well as tips and tricks for turning your piece into a pillow. This class includes the below materials needed during the workshop and are yours to take home with you:

• #10 Regular Oxford Punch Needle
• Premium wool rug yarn (in various colors)
• Monk’s Cloth Backing Fabric
• Morgan Non-Slip Hoop
• Metal Snips
• Water Soluble Marker
• A guide to get you started on your punch needle journey

All materials, instructions, and entrance to The Art of Abstraction: Modernism in Quilting included with the workshop fee.  Classes with insufficient enrollment may be cancelled. Students will be notified in advance and full refunds or the opportunity to transfer to another workshop will be offered. Student cancellations must be requested 48 hours in advance for a refund minus $10 administration fee.  Full registration fee may be transferred to a future workshop or other adult program.  Cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance will result in a forfeiture of workshop fee.
