Hands on History Workshop: Tribal Tunes – Gourd Instrument Making

Join musician and master craftsman, Hawk Hurst, for an exciting, hands-on experience, as we learn to create ancient musical instruments. Participants will be guided to make and decorate their own Native American-style gourd maracas and river cane clappers. We will end our morning with some rousing tunes played with our own handmade instruments.  Hawk is an accomplished storyteller and folk musician, with nine CD’s and two children’s books to his credit. Hawk creates the flutes, drums, and rattles used during his performances.
