Exclusive Storeroom Tour: Haute for Summer with Curator of Historic Textiles Virginia Theerman

Join Curator of Historic Textiles Virginia Theerman for an exclusive, in-depth tour of the Museum’s collection of summer fashions.  Go behind the scenes in the Museum’s storeroom and get an up-close look at bathing suits and summer wear currently not on view to the public.  Learn how Charlestonians historically beat the heat without air conditioning while utilizing different clothing materials and fibers.  Theerman will also discuss how warm weather fashions, showing skin, and the rules of propriety have evolved over time.  Cool down on a hot summer evening in the temperature-controlled storeroom for this special, rarely offered, curator-led tour!

Enjoy light refreshments before the tour commences at 5:30 pm.

Registration is required and space is extremely limited. Participants must be able to climb stairs.
