Exclusive Society Member Tour: The Spanish are Coming! Preparing Colonial Armor for exhibit

The Charleston Museum is excited to invite Society Level Members to a special evening with Curator John Fisher for his first exclusive Society Member Tour as the new Curator of Archaeology.  Guests are invited for an exclusive first look at Colonial Armor pieces, never before exhibited for the public.  Mr. Fisher will provide a guided viewing of equipment used by a Spanish officer or soldier during the colonial period similar to what would have been worn at sites such as Santa Elena located in Beaufort, South Carolina.  Objects will include a 17th – 18th century Spanish Cuirass, a 16th -17th-century Morion (helmet), and other colonial pieces from Charleston and the Heyward Washington House. Top off your tour with an exclusive behind-the-scenes visit to the Curator workroom, rarely opened to the public.  Learn more about what is involved with caring for these historic items and preparing them for display.

Meet and mingle with the new Curator and fellow Society Members over refreshments and then enjoy an exclusive look at these collection pieces not currently on exhibit for public viewing.

Beverages and light hors d’oeuvres will be available.

Registration is required.  Register online or call 843.722.2996 ext. 235

This program is free of charge and exclusively for current Museum Members at the following Membership Levels: Milby Burton Society, Manigault Society, 1773 Society, and Laura Bragg Society. Not a Member, yet? Join (or upgrade) your Membership, today!
