Conversations with a Curator: Lawn Party with Curator of Historic Textiles Virginia Theerman

Conversations with a Curator: Lawn Party with Curator of Historic Textiles Virginia Theerman

Join Curator of Historic Textiles Virginia Theerman in our Historic Textiles Gallery for a tour of the new exhibit, The Lawn Party: From Satin to Seersucker. In an “unprecedented” era when large gatherings have been discouraged and fashion has trended towards leisurewear, Theerman celebrates getting dressed up for outdoor events in this captivating exhibition. Featuring objects from the Museum’s Historic Textile and History collections ranging from the 1820s to the present day, garments are mixed across time and occasion in small vignettes, creating conversations through the decades. Come join the party!

Conversations with a Curator allows visitors a chance to have an in-depth look at an object or exhibit in the Museum galleries, ask questions and spark conversations. The Charleston Museum’s collections are both extraordinary and diverse and each Curator-led talk and tour allows participants to immerse themselves in a different aspect of Charleston’s rich history. Conversations with a Curator and Curator Talk programs are typically held on the second Friday of each month

All Conversations with a Curator programs are open to the public and FREE for Members and FREE with admission. Per CDC recommendations, masks are encouraged if you have not been fully vaccinated.
