2020 Annual Oyster Roast at the Dill Sanctuary

Join us on February 22 from 12-3 pm for The Charleston Museum’s 2020 Annual Oyster Roast!  Enjoy an incredible view of the Stono River at the Dill Sanctuary while you listen to live music with the Paul Quattlebaum Jazz Band, shuck oysters, and eat delicious barbecue and the perfect sides from Sticky Fingers. The Holy City Cupcakes will also be on-site with coffee, hot cocoa, and cupcakes for guests to enjoy.  Attendees are also invited to join Museum Archaeologists for tours and discussions of archaeological work that has taken place at Stono Plantation, one of four plantation sites within the Dill Sanctuary.  Bring your appetites, your coolers (this event is BYOB), and your chairs and blankets, and join us for a perfect day in the Lowcountry. The Dill Sanctuary, a wildlife sanctuary, is only open to the public for select programs with The Charleston Museum.  Please, no pets. Tickets can be purchased online at CharlestonMuseum.org or by calling 843.722.2996.

Please note that the Dill Sanctuary Oyster Roast is BYOB.

Tickets are all-inclusive and cover admission to the Dill Sanctuary, BBQ, oysters from 12:30 – 2:30 pm, archaeology talks, hot cocoa or coffee and a cupcake from The Holy City Cupcakes! Additional sweets will be available for purchase from The Holy City Cupcakes.

Advance Tickets (purchased by January 25): $27.50 for Members, $37.50 for Non-members.

Tickets Purchased after January 25: $45 for members, $55 for Non-members.

No pets, please, as this event is held at a wildlife reservation.

  • Tour to the Stono Plantation archaeological site with Archaeologist, Ron Anthony.
2:00 pm
  • Tour to cemetery with Curator of Historical Archaeology, Martha Zierden.
