The Charleston Museum's wedding collection consists mainly of wedding dresses and accessories, including shoes, fans, gloves, veils and garters. Some men's wedding attire, such as coats and vests are also included. Dating from c.1768 into the 1980s, the majority of these items were worn in Charleston and the surrounding South Carolina area by many well-known families such as Pinckney, Heyward, Manigault, Laurens, Edmondston and Hollings.
