Description:

Breech-loading carbine with .50 caliber round barrel outfitted with a breech block that tilts upward for loading. Made with brass furniture, a butternut stock, bladed rear and foresights with a small friction fitted accessory in the center which removes and attaches to one end of the ramrod. "879" and the letter "R" is stamped once at the top of the breech plate and again just ahead of the trigger guard on the underside. Currently on exhibit in the Civil War Gallery in the Museum.
