The Charleston Museum's Photograph Collection consists of over 35,000 black & white and color photographs taken by some of Charleston’s leading photographers such as Louis Schwartz, Morton B. Paine, and Robert Achurch. They include scenes of Charleston’s streets, buildings and beaches as well as the aftereffects of the Civil War and the natural disasters that have struck the area up to Hurricane Hugo in 1989.
