Description:

Children will learn how to start their own sweetgrass basket with help from local artisan Sarah Edwards-Hammond.  Her family is descendants of West African artists who brought the craft to the Lowcountry some 300 years ago.  Learn the history of this local art form and create art of your own.  This workshop is part of a series where children can get their hands on history. Each workshop features a local artisan and a specialized tour of Museum collections. Program is for children ages 8 and up, adults can pay child rate if they would like to participate.
