The Charleston Museum Archives
The Archives operate as a closed stack. Due to limits on staff time and available work space, appointments are essential to access the collections.
The Archives will be closed for renovations between Monday, November 14th and Friday, December 30th. Research appointments will not be available during this time and email(and phone) requests will be handled as conditions permit.
Archive Hours
Monday - Friday, 9am to 5pm.
We do close for lunch every day.

Research
We receive numerous requests for information. Inquiries that cannot be answered in a short amount of time will be considered a research request. As we have a small staff, we are unable to offer research assistance except as a fee-based service. To contract for this, please complete and return the Research Service Request. Requests not accompanied by payment will be disregarded.

Image Licensing
Photographs, graphic images and other objects in the Museum's collections can only be photographed or reproduced with written permission. Permission is for one-time use only, and only for the purpose stated on the application form. Please see the Guidelines document for our fee schedule and general procedures. Forms may be submitted by mail, email or fax.

Lowcountry Digital Library
The Charleston Museum Archives is a collaborative partner in the Lowcountry Digital Library, an effort to make our local resources available through digitization.
Textile Tuesdays
Each Tuesday we post a piece from our textile collection. Some items have been on exhibit, some will eventually be shown in our new Historic Textiles Gallery and some may be just too fragile to display.
